Master (Sifu) Luc Charlebois has been training at Ottawa’s Shaolin Kung Fu Centre since 2003. Martial arts have always been a point of interest to Master Charlebois. When he was young he was taught the basics of Jiu-jitsu, and at the age of 17 he began training in kickboxing.

It was only when he began training at the Shaolin Kung Fu Centre, however, that he found a style and his teacher Grand Master Ly that inspired him to transform his lifestyle.

Through rigorous training, multiple demonstrations and competitions, Master Charlebois has worked his way to second Duan (Degree) master at the Shaolin Kung Fu Centre.

Won two gold medals at the World Kobudo Federation Competition in the summer of 2010

In the summer of 2010 Master Charlebois attended the World Kobudo Federation’s competition in Lévis, Québec. Competing in the Chinese Arts division, Master Charlebois was awarded the gold medal in the Long Range Weapons category using the Kwan Dao; he also won a gold medal in the Short Range Weapons sparring group.

Honorable Mention Award at NTD Television’s 3rd International Chinese Traditional Martial Arts Competition in New York City

In October of 2011, he attended NTD Television’s 3rd International Chinese Traditional Martial Arts Competition in New York City and returned with an Honorable Mention Award in the Southern Fist category.

Won gold at the International Kuo Shu Championship Tournament in Baltimore, Maryland

In July 2012, Master Charlebois competed at the International Kuo Shu Championship Tournament in Baltimore, Maryland. He received a gold medal in the Southern Short Weapons category, using the Mui Dao weapon.

Master Charlebois is always striving to better his body, mind and spirit. His goals are to continue training and testing his skills and to help share the knowledge of Shaolin kung fu at the Shaolin Kung Fu Centre at head quarter, and also at his school in Orleans.
